Jubilee celebration – 30 years Ludwig Museum Koblenz
18.09.2022 – 18.09.2022
We invite you to a ceremony and open day!
Exactly 30 years ago, on 18 September 1992, the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz for contemporary art was ceremoniously opened to the public by Peter and Irene Ludwig. The focus was on French art after 1945, and in this way the Deutschherrenhaus, built in 1216, became a place of dialogue between France and Germany. Visitors can become acquainted with the diversity of the approximately 500-object collection in a constant change of the permanent presentation. In addition, numerous special exhibitions are conceived as a multi-voiced dialogue that not only highlights individual positions, but also creates the context to illustrate developments in international art from America to China. The art collector and patron Peter Ludwig (1925-1996), who was born and raised in Koblenz, and his wife Irene (1927-2010) were passionate about establishing a museum in their home town. We celebrate in the presence of Minister President Malu Dreyer.
