Präsenz. IKKG Absolventinnen Ausstellung

03.07.2021 – 11.07.2021

From July 3rd to July 11th, 2021, the Ludwig Museum is showing the group exhibition of this year’s graduates of the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass, Koblenz, under the title “Presence”. The five artists – Lyia Gabitova, Yuan Yuan, Ching-Ya Huan, Elisa Ekler and Helena Sekot – present their individual positions using various media, such as sculptures made of ceramics and glass, as well as painting, photography, video and performance.

Especially in times of contact restrictions and the resulting increased digital exchange, the word “presence” experiences a new effect. In their works, the five artists respond in particular to questions about the limits of the experience of presence. The starting point was the common isolation and its direct impact on social coexistence, on global solidarity. They also investigated the question of the extent to which presence has to do with physical presence, whether “presence” can also generate thoughts and memories without direct physical contact, without being less real. The five artists address different forms of existence of “presence” and their meaning in the life of every single person.

Vernissage: Saturday, July 3rd 2021, 11 a.m.
Greeting and introduction by Prof. Jens Gussek and Ludwig Rinn.
