“University careers. Opportunities, requirements, hurdles. What is the situation for female scientists at German universities?”
The background to this is the question of Germany as a place of education and, related to this, the opportunities for advancement for female scientists, particularly in management positions. We believe that this topic deserves to be examined and discussed in depth. Although significantly more women have been given leadership positions in professorships and key positions in recent years, the proportion of rector positions at universities is still comparatively low: 19 female professors compared to 90 male professors (measured at 109 universities). Particularly with regard to other European countries, Germany appears to have a need for targeted support measures here.
On the podium are:
Prof. Dr. Julia Sander (Chancellor of the Vinzenz Pallotti University, Vallendar), Prof. Dr. Nadine Kammerlander (Chair of the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallendar), JProf. Dr. Lisa Beißwanger (Managing Director of the Institute of Art History, University of Koblenz), Prof. Dr. Eva Martha Eckkrammer (President of the University of Trier) and Prof. Dr. Beate Reifenscheid (Director of the Ludwig Museum Koblenz and Honorary Professor of the University of Koblenz).
The Zonta Club Koblenz Rhein-Mosel would like to use International Women’s Day to address these important questions about the German research landscape and invites you to a panel discussion that is as exciting as it is informative. After the discussion, there will be an opportunity for the plenary to discuss questions in more detail.
Afterwards, a drink will be served.
Venue: Ludwig Museum Koblenz, Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Time: 5-7 pm
