An evening in the Ludwig Collection. Under the title “From Abstraction to Pop Art,” Prof. Dr. Beate Reifenscheid and Suzana Leu-Puggioni, M.A., will discuss American art of the 1950s and 1960s. The focus will be on artists such as Frank Stella, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg. The evening will thus be dedicated to a generation of US artists whose abstract approaches developed in different directions—towards Pop Art, but also towards Op Art. At the same time, abstraction will be understood as an artistic response to the trauma of the Second World War, the end of which was still relatively recent at that time.
This includes culinary surprises from Gottschalk Catering and Riesling from the Matthias Müller winery.
