On the occasion of the Ludwig Museum’s 30th anniversary, the French artist couple Anne and Patrick Poirier reflect on the fragility (Fragilité) of cultures in a solo presentation. They had already created a programmatic outdoor sculpture as a “Dépôt de mémoire et d’oubli” for the opening. In their characteristic manner, this refers to Roman history and myths as a site of ruins from times past, which in turn evokes further levels of association between the past and the present with inscriptions. The Poiriers are among the internationally significant artists who belong to the loose grouping of the “securing of traces”.
