Yoon-Hee – non finito

11.06.2022 – 21.08.2022

At the beginning of her career, the Korean artist Yoon-Hee studied in Seoul, where she completed her Master of Fine Arts in 1974. From 1983, she first worked in Paris and then moved to France altogether in 1986. Like so many artists who come to Europe from the Asian region, she ideally combines both cultures and points of view in her work.

Thematically, she is concerned with sculpture, which she preferably locates in public space, but also within nature. She always seeks a language of expression that reveals a closeness to the materiality of space or to nature. Textures and surfaces are important to her, even if she only recreates them.

In addition to her sculptural work, she has also created an extensive oeuvre of ink drawings in which she depicts processes that she also explores in sculpture. It is in her large-format drawings, however, that the viewer is most likely to sense her Asian roots: in the reduction to essentials and in the high-contrast black and white.

Frequently invited by various museum institutions in France and Korea, Yoon-Hee realises numerous projects in sito. She is also regularly represented at the major fairs in Asia.
