Reflections: Important artistic positions from the collection of the National Bank

29.06.2024 – 01.09.2024

Under the programmatic title “Insights – Outsights”, the Ludwig Museum will present around 80 works by artists from the National Bank collection from June 30th to August 22nd, 2024.

Over decades, the National Bank has built up a high-quality collection, which it now presents in museums with selected items. The reason for this is the 100th anniversary of the bank, which feels particularly connected to the region and its culture. The special focus of the collection is on the cultural area of the Ruhr area, on artists from North Rhine-Westphalia and the area around the Düsseldorf Art Academy, some of whom have achieved world fame.

The „Insights – Outsights“ exhibition represents a comprehensive cross-section of the collection, revealing the diversity and range of the artists represented therein and their artistic practice. After an initial presentation – in a modified form – in the Küppersmühle Museum, Duisburg, this is now the second museum presentation in Germany.

In particular, there will be works by Siegfried Anzinger, Stephan Stangenhol, Joseph Beuys, Peter Bömmels, Abraham David Christian, Tony Cragg, David Czupryn, Richard Deacon, Peter Doig, Ulrich Erben, Pia Fries, Katharina Grosse, Jörg Immendorff, Konrad Klapheck, Imi Knoebel, Paco Knöller, Bernd Koberling, Dieter Krieg, Markus Lüpertz, A.R. Penck, Klaus Rinke, Leunora Salihu, Katharina Sieverding, Norbert Tadeusz, Günther Uecker, Tatjana Valsang, Cornelius Völker and Franz Erhard Walther can be seen.

The exhibition is thanks to the collaboration with the National Bank Essen and is supported by the Foundation for Art and Culture, Bonn.
