Jump in Art – “Jean-Michel Alberola. Suzanne et les Vieillards, or Art History as a Source of Inspiration”, Thursday, May 28, 2026

28.05.2026 , 18:00

On Thursday, 28 May 2026 (6.00 pm to 7.30 pm), the event ‘Jump in Art – Out of the office, into the world of art!’ will take place at the Sammlung Ludwig, focusing on the theme ‘Jean-Michel Alberola. Suzanne et les Vieillards, or Art History as a Source of Inspiration’.

In his art, the French artist Jean-Michel Alberola combines influences from art history, everyday culture and personal experiences. Recurring motifs such as “Susanna and the Elders” or “Diana and Actaeon” revolve around the theme of the forbidden gaze – around seeing, observing and desiring. In this way, Alberola combines general pictorial traditions with individual symbols whilst simultaneously reflecting on the gaze itself – that of the artist as well as that of the viewer, a theme that remains relevant to this day.

With Prof. Dr Beate Reifenscheid, Director of the Ludwig Museum, and Suzana Leu-Puggioni, MA, research assistant.

The evening will be rounded off with culinary surprises from Gottschalk Catering and Riesling from the Matthias Müller winery.

Cost including aperitif and stuzzichini: €24.00.

Please register by telephone on 0261-129 2406 or in writing to kasse.ludwig-museum@stadt.koblenz.de by Sunday 24 May 2026 at the latest.
