John Chamberlain. Bending Spaces

The crumpled sculptures of the American John Chamberlain, welded together from deformed car body parts, already revolutionized the art world in the 1950s. Less well known, but an essential key to his oeuvre, is Chamberlain’s approach to photography. Experimenting, he explored its possibilities, blurriness and fleetingness, created by consciously using long exposure times, blend into a dynamic unity. Catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at the Ludwig Museum Koblenz, August – October 2018.
